The LRV stands for Light Reflectance Value and measures the percentage of light that a color reflects. The LRV for Sherwin Williams SW7016 Mindful Gray is 47.05. In a room dark room with not a lot of natural light, or a room with a lot of dark furniture, the green will become more apparent. This area has seen a big change, not only with the new siding, but also with the removal of the odd half stone wall on the side of the living room. Mindful Gray by Sherwin Williams (SW 7016) is a beautiful, light to medium-toned warm gray shade that’s neutral enough to complement a variety of home decor styles and palettes. Mindful Gray is a warm gray, with a green and sometimes taupe, undertone. And at that time, I also plan to wrap the (new) wood columns, add some pretty moulding, give them a very traditional look, and paint them white. But whatever the problem, I plan to tackle that during the porch makeover this year. Perhaps the main beam needs to be replaced, or maybe the column near the front door just needs to be taller to support that section of the roof to straighten out the sag. Since that wood (just at the edge of the roof above the porch) is still wrapped in the old aluminum cladding from the old siding, I have no idea why it’s sagging. I have big plans, starting with replacing the old columns and straightening out the roof edge on the porch so that it doesn’t sag in the middle like it does now. However, this additional depth (compared to Sherwin Williams Repose Gray) helps it stand up to intense sunshine without washing out quite as much. This depth makes it a tough sell for darker rooms no matter which exposure they have. ![]() The front porch area is actually going to be a fun project that I’ll work on this year. Mindful Gray has an LRV of 48, making it a light-medium depth neutral paint colour. Anyway, they need to be replaced, and with them being so dry, they would have soaked up a lot of paint, which would have been a waste. Somewhere along the way, the stone was removed and the columns were left exposed to the elements. ![]() When the house was new, they were wrapped in the same stone that’s on the left of the house. Those are old and very dry cedar columns that I’m pretty sure are original to the house. You’ll notice that I didn’t have them paint the porch columns. ![]()
